    Product Overview

Product Application

DIN 7504M (also commonly referred to as DIN 7504N) refers to cross-recessed pan-head self-drilling and self-tapping screws. This standard is currently internationally equivalent to ISO 15481. It is one of the most commonly used “dovetail screws” for fastening lightweight panels and assembling equipment, both indoors and outdoors.

DIN 7504M is generally regarded as an improved version of the DIN 7504N type, featuring an additional bearing surface for the washer.

Main Slot Types

Although DIN 7504M originally referred to Phillips slots, two main slot types have emerged on the market to meet the needs of efficient assembly in modern industry

  • DIN 7504M-H: The classic Phillips slot , suitable for standard assembly.
  • DIN 7504M-TX: Torx/hexalobular slot. The Torx slot can withstand higher torque than the Phillips slot and is less prone to tool slippage (cam-out) during high-intensity continuous operation; it is extremely popular in the European market and on automated production lines.

Product Advantages

  • Dual Drive Design

Slotted recess provides a backup drive option for manual adjustment or removal in confined spaces.

  • Integrated Flange Head

Built-in washer face distributes load evenly and helps protect the fastening surface.

  • Washer Compatible

Can be supplied with pre-assembled Polyamide (PA) or EPDM washers for enhanced sealing and protection.

Common Questions

What is the difference between DIN 7504M and DIN 7504K?

Compared to the 7504K with an external hex head, the 7504M features a pan head with a rounded surface and no raised edges on top. Once tightened, it offers a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and is less likely to snag on clothing or hands, making it ideal for use in exposed applications.

What is the main difference between DIN 7504M and DIN 7504N?

Both DIN 7504M and DIN 7504N belong to the DIN 7504 series of self-drilling screws. The main difference between them lies in their head styles and intended applications. DIN 7504N is a standard fastener, while DIN 7504M is generally considered an improved version of the N type, featuring an additional bearing surface for washers.

Can DIN 7504M be used as a substitute for DIN 7504N?

In most cases, yes. Because it has a larger contact area at the head, DIN 7504M generally provides better clamping performance, but you need to confirm that there is sufficient installation space.

What materials can DIN 7504M fasten?

It is mainly used for thin steel sheets, aluminum profiles, light-gauge steel, and other metal materials.
