Protects Substrates
Distributes force to prevent damage to soft/fragile materials (≤ 0.9 mm).

DIN 968 Phillips pan head self-tapping screws with a flange—often referred to as “self-tapping screws with washers” or “washer-head self-tapping screws”—feature an integrated flange beneath the pan head.
This design increases the load-bearing surface area and protects the surface of the connected parts without the need for a separate washer.
The thread dimensions, thread profile, and tolerances of DIN 968 fully comply with the specifications of DIN 7970 or the latest international standard, DIN EN ISO 1478.

Pre-assembled washer saves time on automated assembly lines.
Large contact area provides high vibration resistance.
It depends on the application.
The pilot hole size should match the screw diameter and material thickness.
Not always.
DIN 968 self-tapping screws are ideal when access is available from only one side of the assembly and when creating threads directly in the base material. For heavy structural connections requiring higher preload and load capacity, bolts and nuts are generally preferred.
SUS304 for general outdoor use, SUS316 for coastal and high-corrosion environments.
DIN 968 provides a larger bearing surface and improved load distribution due to its integrated collar.
